Schengen
Seven countries in the world signed a treaty in June 1985 to end internal border checkpoints and controls. More countries have joined the treaty since then. At present there are 25 Schengen countries and all of them are in Europe. The Schengen visa has made travelling between these 25 countries much easier. Travelling on a Schengen visa means that the visa holder can travel to any or all member countries on one single visa. This is particularly beneficial to those who wish to visit several European countries on the same trip. The Schengen visa is the visitor visa.
The Schengen visa allows the holders to a total stay of up to 90 days within a period of 6 months for tourist or business purposes. If you get a multiple entry Schengen visa you may leave or return any number of times within 180 day period but the combined stay within the period must not total more than 90 days.
