Request For Evidence (RFE), as pertinent to immigration processing, is a formal response from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to petitions for residency, citizenship, or employment.
RFEs typically request one or more of the following types of evidence:-
1. ability of employer to pay.
2. periods of current or prior stay in the United States.
3. prior work experience.
4. educational details or evaluation.
5. documents supporting claims of exceptional ability or outstanding research.
Applicants or petitioners (or their lawyers) are required to provide the requested evidence; generally, petitions and applications are denied if such evidence is not provided.
Upon receiving the new evidence, USCIS will generally adjudicate the petition or application, although they may respond with an additional RFE(s).
